To all college students who are thinking about getting involved – my piece of advice to you is…
I can’t tell you how lucky I am to have been able to hear this advice early in my college career. It feels great to be involved in a lot of clubs and programs because I always feel accomplished at the end of the day. Just imagine a busy day that you have had; class in the morning, a project due in the afternoon, you go to your job and then finally off to your student organization’s weekly meeting. You get home and you may be exhausted, but you have a smile on your face because you know that you just matured, you grew up and most importantly you beat the lazy people who sat around all day watching TV.
But, so what? a couple more meetings, a few projects and I’ll be a better me? YES! (And, I’ll tell you why)
It may not be going to the actual meeting’s and it’s usually not the projects that you complete that will make you better. It’s the realization that YOU CAN DO IT ALL. Every single student in college has had a week where they had midterms, work, meetings, drama with a friend, you name it. And they think that they will never get through it; but guess what. You’re still here! You got through the “hardest week ever.”
So whats the plan for winter quarter? If I were you, I would look at the student organizations you want to participate in and make it happen! Applications for The Sales Centre are due on January 14. I look forward to reading yours.
