Level 1: Researching the World Map

Welcome to the 8-bit Selling World! We have already been trained in the art of selling, and now its time to make some sales. So, what’s the next step? Well, you have to know where are going before you can get there, so the we have to get a good idea of what’s going on in the world before we make our first move. This is where the World Map comes in handy.

One of the signature features of video games is always the World Map. Some may be large and expansive, while others may only have a few stops, but a lot to look at. But besides the scenery, there are a lot of things you have to remember when walking around. It is easy to get caught up in the beauty of what is around you, but you have to be attentive. Every gamer knows if you go to one part of the map before another, you may miss out on a very important mission, item or event. It is even possible to completely miss something which could be of great value to you because it is hidden somewhere in the world, and you need to know where on the map to look if you are going to be able to find and use it. Though it may seem like something basic, researching and understanding the World Map can be one of the most important aspects of a game.

The same is true for selling. When you are first put out into the selling world, you are given a territory where you are to find your customers. This is your World Map, and just like in the games, you must do your research. You have to make the best decisions to save time and make the most of your efforts. There are many potential customers, but you have to know which ones work best in your overall plan, and which ones can lead to the most success. This is known as prospecting, and it is the key to having success in your territory. You have to know where your customer is located and what times work best for them, so you can come in at the best time and get the sale. And just like in games, there may be certain events going on within your prospects’ business which can make or break your sale. Missing out on these opportunities may lead to never having the chance to create a relationship with these businesses every again, so you have to be quick and precise.
